Here you go, a week or two late, but I think worth the wait.
Max Boileau, Backlip on the new Element Mobile Stairset at Nordic Mountain. The day that I shot this I was testing out my newly acquired Lumedyne 065 flash system. I was pretty pumped about learning to use these new, higher powered flashes, and I think Max ended up hitting this rail like 40 times before everything came together just right. I think the coolest part about the whole shoot was that this shot was taken at about 2:30pm in pretty bright sunlight, but the Lumedyne's have no problem knocking down the ambient by a stop or two.
If you don't know Max, he is a really talented local kid that I have known and have been riding with forever. Max has always been a really good rider but this year he has stepped it up even further. Max rides for O2 Team Lab and is looking for more support.
This image, and 9 others like it will be released over the coming months. Each image will be a limited run of ten prints, signed and numbered by yours truly. Each print can be yours for $24.99, shipped or delivered to your door.
I truly love to shoot this kind of stuff, in fact, it is the reason that I picked up a camera in the first place. The reality is that I spend most of my time shooting other (non-snowboarding) things. Don't get me wrong, any time I have a camera in my hand I am more than happy, but sometimes I do wish that I could spend all my time on stuff like this. Almost all of the work that I do with snowboarding and skiing is funded out of my own pocket and I only occationally see a financial return on it. Often I use my ability (notice, I did not say talent) with a camera to benefit up-and-comers like Max and to promote the Midwest Shred Community. By purchasing one of these prints you can help me help the Community even more, I am not out to get rich, almost all of the proceeds from these prints will go directly to cover the expenses that come from shooting this stuff. The more exposure our local riders get, the stronger our scene will become; and that benefits anyone who enjoys our sports, no matter who they are. The best part is that you get a sweet piece of "art" (sorta) to put on your wall, and the satisfaction of supporting you local scene as well.
