Since moving shop about a month ago, we've been a little crazy trying to get things back running in an efficient fashion. Right before the move, I finally pulled the trigger on a machine that I've wanted to put in the office for a good long time. What is this machine? A vinyl cutter/plotter. The biggest use for this is for cutting vinyl "die cut" stickers and self adhesive graphics. While actual "die cuts" are made with a wood and metal die, the disadvantage of this method is that you have to tool and tune an actual die for each design, making small runs of graphics and stickers impractical. The plotter on the other hand, can cut pretty much any vector graphic with just a few minutes of setup, making one-offs and large runs feasible.
Needless to say, this little guy has seen a lot of use already, doing work for theteamlab.com, custom graphics projects, and of course some personal branding as well.
If you have a project in vinyl or heat transfer, let me know and we can talk.
More to come. -J.H.
